Newsletters
In
October 2000 I went into full time ministry as a Chaplain for the
Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department, Men's Central Jail. It is
a volunteer position so my support first came through donations from
inside the fellowship at Calvary Chapel Chino Hills, I was being sent
there as a missionary. (See
the Calvary extension)
Now that Jesus is the Key Ministries has become a stand alone non profit ministry, there are many diverse people from different churches who have come a long side what we are doing. We wouldn't be able to do it without their support, both spiritually or financially. I started doing these newsletters to regularly update those who support the ministry. But it has now taken on a unique ministry of its own. People are constantly telling me how they are blessed by them. I have had some tell me that it has changed their ideas concerning jail ministry. Others are praying for the men and women behind bars. Two different stories really blessed me. One was a Deputy who had quit the Department, feeling he couldn't take it anymore, read a newsletter and felt God's call to go back to the jail to minister. The second was when one of my kids said there were kids in the youth group whose parents were having them read the news letters and pray for the inmates. It is my hope and prayer that this new resource of a web site will open the door for this ministry to reach even more people. In His Service, Chaplain Ed Welsh |
